Contributory Parent (Permanent) visa subclass 143

Visa Description

This permanent visa lets a parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident of Australia or eligible New Zealand citizen move to Australia.

With This Visa You Can

  • move to or stay in Australia as a permanent resident
  • sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia
  • apply for Australian citizenship, if eligible

Eligibility

You must:

  • be outside Australia when we decide your application
  • have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway
  • meet the balance-of-family test, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway
  • have an Assurance of Support, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway

Partner Visa temporary subclass 309 and permanent subclass 100

Visa Description

These visas allow the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia.

You apply for the temporary and the permanent partner visas together.

Basic Eligibility

  • You must be in a genuine relationship with your spouse or de facto partner who is:
    • an Australian citizen
    • Australian permanent resident
    • eligible New Zealand citizen

Partner Provisional Visa (Subclass 309)

This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. Getting this visa is the first step towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 100).

With This Visa You Can

Length of stay

Temporarily, until we decide your permanent Partner (Migrant) visa (subclass 100) application or the application is withdrawn

Eligibility

You must:

  • be in a genuine relationship with your spouse or de facto partner who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
  • usually, be outside Australia when you apply and when the visa is granted

Processing Time

  • 75% of applications: 15 months
  • 90% of applications: 20 months

Partner (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 100)

The visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, live in Australia permanently. It is usually granted to people who hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 309).

With This Visa You Can

  • live, work and study in Australia indefinitely
  • sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia
  • apply for Australian citizenship if eligible

Partner visa (apply in Australia) (Subclass 820, 801)

Visa Description

This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. Getting this visa is the first step towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801).

Requirements

  • be in a genuine relationship with your spouse or de facto partner who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
  • be in Australia when you apply for this visa and when we decide your temporary visa application. Family who apply with you must also be in Australia

Length of stay

  • 820: Temporarily while we process your permanent Partner visa (subclass 801) application or it is withdrawn.
  • 801: Permanently
Visitor (tourist) visa subclass 600

Visa Description

You might be able to get this visa if you are travelling to Australia:

  • as a visitor
  • for business visitor activities
  • to visit family
  • on a tour with a registered travel agent from the People’s Republic of China.

Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462)

Visa Description

​This visa is for young people who want to holiday and work in Australia for up to a year.

Requirements

You might be able to get this visa if you:

  • have a passport from an eligible country
  • be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive)
  • apply from outside Australia
  • not be accompanied by dependent children
  • not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 or 417 visa. If you previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 visa, see the second Work and Holiday visa.
