It is serviced by regular public transport and is close to local shopping centres. The Newnham campus is home to the Australian Maritime College, Australia’s national centre for maritime education and training, which is renowned for its world-class teaching and research facilities.

Sydney (Rozelle) campus (NSW)

The University of Tasmania’s Rozelle campus is located in the inner western suburbs of Sydney, in close proximity to the Sydney central business district and regularly serviced by public transport. The University’s School of Health Sciences offers the two-year Fast Track Bachelor of Nursing course through the Rozelle campus.

In terms of research capacity, UTAS has established many world-class facilities to aid researchers and students in tackling science. At this moment, UTAS is the only place in the world that offer research hub for commercial development of rock lobster culture system. UTAS is also the only place in the southern hemisphere that has an Experimental Aquaculture Facility to aid researches (the only other place is in Denmark).

Another renowned research area for UTAS is naval architecture and engineering. UTAS has been a key player industry with education programs provided for ship engineers and ocean seafarers. The facility here at Launceston campus ranges from an artificial water basin to a test ship model, to the simulator of ship’s bridge for students to practice real-life situations.
