Victoria University – Graduate Diploma in Education

Victoria University (VU)’s Graduate Diploma in Education is designed to meet the needs of trainers and teachers in education, community, government and industry. It builds on your qualifications or experience – preparing you for higher roles.

The course provides a perfect mix of hands-on practice and education theory. You’ll gain the confidence and skill set needed to lead school or workplace programs.

VU teach up-to-date methods in many areas, including:

    • designing and implementing learning programs
    • educational leadership
    • e-learning
    • evaluation and assessment
    • vocational training.

 

There’s also the opportunity to conduct workplace research, aimed at improving training or influencing policy and practice.

This diploma is the second of three graduate courses and successful completion gains you admission to the Master of Education.

This course does not provide registration to teach in Australia.

NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH COLLABORATIONS

During your diploma, you’ll undertake workplace research. If you progress to a masters degree, you’ll undertake a major research project, and present your findings as a thesis.

VU offers a variety of research opportunities – and the support of a supervisor – through the Centre for International Research on Education Systems (CIRES) and the Institute for Sustainable Industries & Liveable Cities.

   ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline
OR
Completion of an Australian Graduate Diploma (or equivalent) in a similar discipline
PLUS
IELTS (or equivalent): Overall score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking)

All applicants are required (1) to submit a current version of their CV (2) to present a 200 word statement outlining why they are interested in undertaking this course.

COURSE STRUCTURE

To complete the Graduate Diploma in Education students will be required to complete 96 credit points consisting of:

    • 24 credit points of Core units
    • 72 credit points of Elective units

    • EED6001 must be taken in your first semester of study
